If you’re looking for a romantic weekend getaway for couples in California, I highly recommend Temecula Winery Country. My husband and I spent a couple of days there, and it was a peaceful, relaxing, and fun experience.
Since we live in San Diego, it’s just a 40-minute drive for us to Temecula, making it easy to enjoy the winery country together. On this occasion, we stayed at the South Coast Hotel for the first time. We usually prefer Pointe Winery or Carter’s Hotel, but since South Coast is part of the same hotel chain as Carter’s, we thought it would have a similar vibe.

We stayed at the South Coast Winery Resort & Spa for the first time. The resort offers rooms in the main towers as well as what they refer to as Villas, which are small bungalows. We booked a King Villa with a mountain view, costing about $300 per night. To be honest, while the Villa was pleasant, it could use some attention; it was a bit dusty, and we encountered a few bugs. However, the hotel amenities were quite nice.
We enjoyed the pool and received good service throughout our stay. Additionally, the resort’s restaurant, Vineyard Rose, is one of the best in Temecula, featuring delicious food and excellent service.

Definitely the place to eat breakfast in Temecula is The Bouquet at Ponte Vineyard Inn. Sometimes my husband and I just drive to Temecula Winery to eat breakfast at the Bouquet. You need to try the Huevos Rancheros; they are just the best. But need to say that the eggs Benedict and the avocado toast are pretty good options as well.

My husband and I have been escaping to these weekend couples getaways for years, and we know exactly where to go. For lunch, the place to go with no doubt is The Restaurant at Ponte. The food is delicious and just the right proportions. My husband gets his wine, and I get the red sangria, which is so tasty. You need to try the charcuterie and the crab cakes; these two plates are just enough to keep you full for the day.

That June weekend we chose for our romantic couples getaway in Temecula, California, had perfect weather at 72 degrees Fahrenheit. We dined at the Vineyard Rose restaurant at South Coast, enjoying a lovely evening on the patio. My husband ordered the tender Filet Mignon, while I opted for the rotisserie chicken.
What Else To Do at Temecula Winery?
There are several activities you can enjoy during your visit, such as hot air balloon rides on weekends to catch the sunrise. Wine tasting is also a must, as each winery offers its own specialty. I highly recommend a wine tour that provides transportation and takes you to different wineries.
