I Tried an Eyelash Lift and Tint in New York: My Honest Review

I Tried an Eyelash Lift and Tint in New York: My Honest Review

As someone with naturally short and barely noticeable eyelashes, I never thought an eyelash lift and tint would make such a dramatic difference.

While visiting New York, I decided to book an appointment and give it a try. The treatment took about 45 minutes, cost $100, and was performed by Sara at Zubi’s Threading Corner, who did an incredible job.

Looking at my before-and-after photos, I honestly cannot believe these are my natural lashes.

My Before and After Results

In the before photo, my eyelashes are so light and straight that they are almost invisible.

After the treatment, my lashes appear:

  • Longer
  • Darker
  • More defined
  • Naturally curled
  • Easier to see without mascara

The best part is that the results still look completely natural. My lashes don’t look fake or overdone—they simply look like a better version of my own lashes.

What Is an Eyelash Lift and Tint?

An eyelash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls your natural lashes upward from the root.

An eyelash tint involves applying a dye to darken the lashes, creating the appearance of wearing mascara without actually wearing any makeup.

When combined, the two treatments can make lashes appear longer, fuller, and more visible.

Step 1. LIFT
The technician first cleans and sanitizes the area. Then she gently applies the relaxing perm to the lashes so they can settle into the perfect lift position. She left the relaxer onto my lashes for about 15 minutes.

Step 2. FIX
Then the technician applies the fix solution. This application locks in the lift so your lashes stay lifted and curly for up to 5 weeks. The fix solution needs to stay on the lashes for 10 minutes.

Why I Decided to Try It

I have always struggled with my eyelashes because they are naturally:

  • Short
  • Straight
  • Dark but not very visible
  • Difficult to curl

I wanted something low-maintenance that would help my eyes look more awake without needing mascara every day.

Since I already spend time creating beauty content for The Allure Edition, I thought it would be fun to document my experience and share my results.

My Experience During the Appointment

The entire appointment lasted approximately 45 minutes.

The process was surprisingly relaxing. I simply laid down with my eyes closed while the technician worked on my lashes.

There was no pain, no discomfort, and no downtime.

Sara explained each step and made me feel comfortable throughout the appointment.

When she handed me the mirror at the end, I immediately noticed how much more visible my lashes looked.

How Much Did It Cost?

My eyelash lift and tint cost $100 in New York City.

Prices can vary depending on the salon and location, but based on my research, this falls within the typical range for NYC.

I did mine at Zubi’s Threading Corner. They have excellent service, and I highly recommend them.

How Long Does an Eyelash Lift and Tint Last?

I was told that my results should last approximately:

  • 4–5 weeks for the tint
  • 6–8 weeks for the lift

The exact timing depends on your natural lash growth cycle.

Because my lashes are naturally straight, I am curious to see how long the curl holds over the next several weeks.

Is an Eyelash Lift and Tint Worth It?

For me, the answer is yes.

I have tried countless mascaras over the years, but none of them gave me this “I woke up like this” effect.

What I love most is that:

  • My eyes look more open.
  • I don’t need mascara every day.
  • The results look natural.
  • There is no maintenance.
  • The treatment was quick and painless.

If you have naturally short, straight, or barely visible lashes like I do, I think an eyelash lift and tint can make a noticeable difference.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Natural-looking results
  • No extensions required
  • Low maintenance
  • Makes eyes appear more awake
  • No daily curling needed
  • Perfect for minimal makeup days

Cons

  • Temporary results
  • Requires touch-ups every few weeks
  • Results depend on your natural lashes
  • Not as dramatic as lash extensions

My Final Thoughts

I went into this appointment with modest expectations because my eyelashes are naturally very difficult to see.

After seeing my before-and-after photos, I am genuinely impressed.

The treatment enhanced my natural lashes without making them look fake, and the difference is much bigger than I expected.

For anyone considering an eyelash lift and tint, especially if you have naturally short or straight lashes, I think it’s worth trying at least once.

I’ll be updating this post if my results last the full 4–5 weeks as expected.

FAQs

Is an eyelash lift better than eyelash extensions?

It depends on your goals. An eyelash lift enhances your natural lashes, while extensions add artificial lashes for a more dramatic look.

Can I wear mascara after an eyelash lift and tint?

Yes. Most technicians recommend waiting 24–48 hours before applying mascara.

Does an eyelash lift damage your natural lashes?

When performed correctly by an experienced technician, an eyelash lift should not damage healthy lashes.

Is an eyelash lift painful?

No. My treatment was completely painless and actually very relaxing.

Would I do it again?

Absolutely. For someone with naturally barely noticeable lashes, the improvement was significant enough that I would book it again.
