Luxury beauty has officially entered a new era, and Hermès is proving that makeup can feel just as elevated as fashion. The Hermès Plein Air Foundation has been everywhere lately — from Vogue beauty editors to luxury makeup lovers searching for that effortless “your skin but better” finish.
Designed for a second-skin finish by Hermès Beauty creative director Gregoris Pyrpylis, the Hermès Plein Air Foundation’s key ingredients are niacinamide, pure hyaluronic acid, and white mulberry extract. Formulated with an 82% skin-care base. Made in Italy. The bottle has 1.11 oz of product, and the price is $145.
But with a price tag around $145, the real question is: is the Hermès Plein Air Foundation actually worth it?
I embarked on a mission and bought the Hermès Plein Air Foundation, along with the primer, the brush, and the beautiful dish directly from the Hermès store. Oh well, I was already spending money, let’s get it all.
I tested the formula by wearing the foundation throughout the day. The brand claims that it can last up to 16 hours, so I put that claim to the test, and with evidence, here’s my honest review of this ultra-luxury foundation and whether it truly lives up to the hype.

Hermès Plein Air Foundation – Packaging and First Impressions
As expected from Hermès, the packaging is absolutely stunning.
The bottle feels substantial, minimal, and incredibly chic — almost like a designer accessory sitting on your vanity. From the weight of the packaging to the soft neutral tones, everything feels intentionally luxurious.
I really love that the bottle has a pump dispenser that controls the amount of foundation used. This reduces product waste and ensures I apply a consistent quantity on my face.
If you appreciate elevated beauty products that also feel collectible, this foundation definitely delivers on the experience.

Hermès Plein Air Foundation – Color Shades
There are 34 shades of Hermès Plein Air Foundation with five color intensities and three undertones: (C) cool, (N) neutral, and (W) warm; so there is a color for everyone. The challenge here is to find out which color is suitable for your skin color. For that reason, I highly recommend that you go to the store so they can help you to find your shade.
I purchased this foundation directly from the Hermes boutique. The sales associate was very patient and applied many shades on my skin until we found two that I was happy with how they looked. I bought shades 33W Rotin and 25W Sisal. Shade 33W Rotin is slightly darker than 25W Sisal. Since I was undecided, I bought both.

My Experience Wearing the Hermès Plein Air Foundation
Before I start applying the Hermès Plein Air Foundation, I applied the Hermès Plein Air Primer onto my skin. The primer has a dispenser pump as well, so I only applied one pump to my face and distributed it evenly over my skin.

Later on, I proceeded to apply the shade 25W Sisal foundation using the Hermes brush; you can apply it with your fingers if you want, which, honestly, is the best method for me, but I wanted to be fancy, so I applied it with the Hermes brush. I applied two pumps to the right side of my face, then two more to the left side. My first impression was that the foundation applies to skin like butter. It melts beautifully and does not give a cakey appearance. It dries quickly and does not change color once dry. I did not apply setting powder, just let the foundation be. No filters were applied to any of the photos, so you have the most accurate review.

I finished my makeup by doing my eyebrows, contour on cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin, applying blush, and doing my lips. That’s it. I went by my day.
By noon, I checked the foundation status in my car during my lunch break (5 hours after), and it still looked pristine and lightweight, no shiny spots yet, like I wasn’t wearing anything at all, which was very impressive.

Hermès Plein Air Foundation- Finish and Coverage – The End of The Test
By 7:45 pm, I was done with my day and my makeup. I wore the foundation for 12.5 hours because who has time to keep wearing it for 16 hours! Anyway, after 12 hours had passed, I took the last photo, and I was still looking like I was ready to party or go for drinks. lol. I concluded the test, and I am happy to report that, yes, this foundation still looks natural for at least 12 hours. Some shiny spots, like on my forehead, nose, and chin, started to show, but in a glowy way, did not look bad; the foundation was still looking like I was wearing a filter (obviously, the light was terrible at night, but still, the photos below do not have a filter)

The Hermès Plein Air Foundation gives:
- light to medium buildable coverage
- a soft matte natural finish
- blurred pores and texture
- healthy-looking skin without heaviness
What stood out most is how lightweight it feels. It almost disappears into the skin while still making your complexion look smoother and more refined.
It does not look cakey or overly matte, which makes it perfect for everyday natural look.
