Practicing self-care is not selfish at all. In fact, you need to learn to love yourself and put yourself first over anybody else because if you feel good you will spread positivism to others. Therefore self-care rituals are so much needed to recharge and pamper ourselves. Here are 10 self-care Sunday ideas that will make you feel good and give you the fuel for a good start of the week.

1. SLEEP IN

This is a self-care that I need to practice for sure. As you know I am a full time engineer and for me weekends are dedicated to work on my blog and my social media. I need to confess that when I sleep in I can’t avoid feeling guilty. That feeling needs to stop and I am aware of it. Therefore, I am here to let you know that is ok to allow yourself to sleep in an extra hour or two. Your body needs it. Your mind needs it. Life is not just work. You need to stop sometimes and learn to relax. I guarantee you, you will be fine.

2. HEALTHY BREAKFAST

It is so easy to grab your everyday cup of coffee (or in my case tea) and a pastry in the mornings , but it is Sunday, you have more time for yourself and you deserve better. Make yourself a favor and prepare a healthy breakfast, it can be as simple as eating granola, fresh fruit or maybe if you are on the mood for cooking perhaps cook some scramble eggs, ham and a toast with butter (my favorite breakfast).

3. GO FOR A MORNING WALK

There is nothing more rewarding than a walk or run very early in the morning, specially on Sundays because there is less people around. The park or street will be there just for you to breath the morning breeze. If you are a mom dog, this is the perfect time to walk your fury babies.

4. GET A MANICURE OR PEDICURE

Or maybe get both!, Whether you get the manicure and pedicure at a nail salon (there is something therapeutic about getting your nails done by another human being, lol) or decide to do it yourself, the fact to get your nails done makes you feel confident and pretty instantly. If you are DIY I highly recommend the nail polish from Chanel, it is luxurious, the colors are gorgeous, it dries fast and it last a long time if you use the Le Gel top coat. Daydream shade on Chanel Le Vernis nail polish is my favorite color with a neutral pinky tone.

5. READ A BOOK

Read that book that you have been saying for a long time that you will read it when you have time. Well, guess what? You will never have time to read the book if you do not actually make time to read it. Reading allows you to distract your mind, improving your grammar and communication skills. Reading reduces stress and is beneficial for your mental health.

6. HAIR MASK DAY

Sundays are the perfect days to apply a hair mask as part of a self-care routine. Hair masks will nourish and hydrate your hair boosting the condition and health of your strands. Make your own hair mask with ingredients that you already have in your kitchen or buy a deep conditioning hair mask, just make sure that is suitable for your hair type.

7. SKINCARE DAY

Same as the hair mask option, you can do a skincare day on Sundays as well, or you can do both. Even better!. Treat yourself with a refreshing DIY face mask with ingredients you have in your kitchen or you can buy it. Now these days face masks are pretty cheap these days and will give you the hydration and nourish that your skin is craving. There are also deep cleaning face mask in the market that will help you to eliminate black heads and dead skin. Remember to choose products suitable for your skin type.

8. DECLUTTER AND CLEAN

Decluttering has a direct impact on your mental health. Decluttering is the art of deep cleaning and discard all the stuff that you do not need or wear anymore. Like Marie Kondo said on her book “The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up”, if the item does not spark joy then get rid off it. Her recommendation is that we should keep the things that we enjoy and therefore they will makes us happy and thus the only things that we should keep are the ones that spark joy.

9. GET READY FOR THE WEEK AHEAD

Sundays are the best to plan the upcoming week and a good way to do it is to organize your week buying the groceries in advance, planning the meals, creating a To-Do list with tasks and errands that need to get done for the week. We as a family of five have a calendar that is at the kitchen on the pantry door. That calendar helps everybody to know about doctor and dentist appointments, upcoming vacations and birthdays.

10. RELAX AND DO NOTHING

When I hear “Relax and chill” and my mind immediately thinks about sofa, a cozy blanket and Netflix night watching a long series with my husband’s company. Those days are precious because is very difficult for us to chill since both of us are engineers and managers at the same time. But again, if we plan it we can do it, even not doing anything needs to be planned and what a good way doing it with your beloved one.
